As we cross the finish line for another World Run in support of Wings for Life, team Captain Natalie Tellis-James reflects on another successful event in support of our global charity partner.
What an incredible event! On Sunday 4 May, #teamHexagon showed up in full force for the Wings for Life World Run, spanning 6 divisions and 24 countries around the world. Together, we ran a collective distance of 714.23 km, with an impressive average distance of 13.74 km per runner!
This global effort wasn’t just about the kilometers we clocked, it was about moving for those who can’t. Every step taken and every kilometer ran contributes directly to spinal cord research, helping the Wings for Life Foundation get closer to their mission: to find a cure for spinal cord injury.
Many of the runners in our team take part for the fun of the event, but for some it runs a little more personal than that. Amy Crittenden, Technical Support Engineer at Hexagon had her world turned upside down when an injury led to spinal cord damage that required surgery, and months of gruelling physical therapy, to get her strength and mobility back. “Progress was slow and often frustrating, but this year I took part in the World Run not just as a supporter, but as a survivor. “
Taking part in the World Run is something many of us could take for granted. The ability to walk, jog or run for a cause when others in the world are far less fortunate. We’re proud to be part of something bigger than ourselves, taking small steps to make a big change for those who benefit from the life-changing research of Wings for Life. Our top two runners showed up for the challenge, completing more than a half marathon each before the catcher car overtook them.
Dariusz Szelest, Poland, EMEA Region – 34.33 km
Yukako Taguchi, Japan, D&E BU – 26.25km
Through entry fees and donations to the 2025 event, #teamHexagon has so far raised €2,263.36, with a pledge from Hexagon to add another €30 per sign up to the pot, making our current total €4183.36.
Congratulations to all our runners, and a huge thank you to everyone who participated, supported, or cheered us on. You’ve helped bring hope, progress, and possibility to people all over the world.
Entries for the 2026 World Run are yet to open, but #teamHexagon will once again unite on the start line, running for those who can’t.
