Instead of sending greetings cards this year we’re continuing our tradition of supporting the charity Wings for Life with a festive donation of 3000 Euros.
Wings for Life funds ground-breaking research into spinal cord injury and organises an annual sponsored run, which our colleagues across the world have taken part in since 2015.
On 3 May 2020, Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division colleagues will once again join more than 100,000 people worldwide to simultaneously walk, jog, run, or use a wheelchair to raise money in the Wings for Life World Run.
The World Run is popular with our colleagues partly because it’s fun and inclusive, but crucially we can also see how helping to fund Wings for Life’s work transforms the lives of other people. In 2019 a Swiss man, David Mzee, took part in the run in Zug after being paralysed for years. He succeeded in walking for 390 metres directly as a result of his participation in a clinical trial funded by Wings for Life.
In 2019 the Wings for Life World Run brought together 186 nationalities from different companies and walks of life, across 323 locations. Together everyone covered 1,103,276 km and raised over 3.5 million euros, with 100% of entry fees going directly to the charity.
