Success for Team Hexagon in the Wings for Life World Run 2021

On 9 May 2021, runners from all over the world came together for one purpose: to run for those who can’t at the Wings for Life World Run. Wings for Life has been the Manufacturing Intelligence division’s global charity partner for seven years now, funding vital research and clinical trials to cure spinal injury, an area which is currently very underfunded. The World Run is the charity’s annual flagship event and more and more Hexagon employees have been taking part each year.

Team Hexagon, lead by our divisional President and leadership team, met virtually at the start line at 11:00 UTC, ready to begin their expedition; for some this meant a comfortable start, for some early hours or late at night, running in darkness and all kinds of weather with a united goal of raising money for spinal cord research.

Collectively our team covered over 1,720km raising an astonishing €4083.06 for Wings for Life in donations and entry fees. Our top runner who covered the most distance was Dariusz Szelest from the EMEA region, finishing his race at 36.52km. Emily O’Dea, our furthest reaching female, wasn’t too far behind in North America, reaching 27.33km before the catcher car tracked her down.

Our team ranked 46th out of 5,752 teams globally and, for the first time ever, other Hexagon divisions were there by our side. Team Hexagon was made up of 25 countries, 5 divisions and 25% females, and the figure that really matters: 100% pride. I’m so proud of Team Hexagon. I’m proud of our commitment, proud of our team spirit and proud of how we put others above ourselves.

Although we are separated by distance, we are united in spirit. We are One Hexagon.
