Every manufacturer wants their inspection process running as efficiently as possible.
While this relies on up-to-date metrology equipment, luckily you don’t necessarily need to replace old machines with new, costly systems.
A coordinate measuring machine (CMM) structure is highly durable. If well-maintained, it can serve quality requirements for 20+ years in some cases.
But some of the machine’s related equipment – like software or electrical parts – is almost constantly evolving and may become obsolete.
A CMM retrofit is a cost-effective way to extend the service life of a measuring system. There are multiple opportunities to enhance a CMM with a retrofit, and we’ve produced a new virtual Retrofit 3D Demonstrator to show what can be achieved.
The Retrofit 3D Demonstrator is an interactive clickable guide that highlights different parts of the measuring system that can be upgraded, including:
- Automatic probe changer racks
- A range of touch-trigger and scanning probes and heads, and non-contact laser scanners
- metrology software, including PC-DMIS and QUINDOS, and Q-DAS statistical process control (SPC) software
- Machine systems including drives, motors, and measuring scales
- CNC controller
These upgrades can apply whether you’re using a Hexagon-branded CMM or another manufacturers’ machine.
There is no set retrofit package with Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence; a retrofit is based on our assessment of each particular CMM’s needs.
Explore these opportunities to enhance your quality processes with the Retrofit 3D Demonstrator.
