We are into the second day of HxGN LIVE 2018, with over 3500 attendees enjoying keynotes and breakout sessions from the six main tracks.
Earlier today, Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence President, Norbert Hanke, took to the stage to present his keynote, ‘Rethink Quality’. The interactive presentation challenged the audience to take a fresh look at what quality means to their organisation, capturing their opinions via an interactive polling system.
During the presentation, Hanke was joined by special guest speaker Doctor Michael Grieves, Executive Director of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Innovative Design (CAMID) at the Florida Institute of Technology. Dr. Grieves proposed a new model for managing quality through the product lifecycle before Hanke returned to explored how Hexagon technology enables people working in design and engineering, production and metrology to share responsibility for quality.
Citing five key characteristics of a Smart Factory identified in a recent Deloitte article, he proposed that quality could be an enabler of Smart Factories.
Finally, Brian Shepherd, Senior Vice President for Software Solutions at Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, introduced a number of development projects in progress to create solutions for the Smart Factory.
