2019 MSC User Conference provides insight into future of design, simulation and manufacturing

More than 1200 customers and partners attended our annual 2019 MSC User Conference series in the Indo-Pacific region, hearing from industrial leaders and innovators about the role of data in creating an autonomous future.

As always with the MSC User Conference series, it was a profoundly enriching experience, chock-full of ideas, enthusiasm, and the excitement of engaging with some of the top-notch experts in the fields of design, simulation, and manufacturing.

We were honoured by the presence of industry experts including leaders from Hexagon; along with renowned industry speakers such as Mr. I.V. Rao, who played a key role in developing Maruti Suzuki’s successful automotive manufacturing model in India, Dr. David Low, CEO of Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC) in Singapore, and Prof. Dauwels who is a leading figure in the adoption of autonomous mobility technologies in Singapore.

We also had several eminent MSC Software and Hexagon speakers presenting including, Dr. Roger Assaker, CEO of e-Xstream engineering & Chief Customer Engagement Officer and MSC Software and Patrick Harrigan, Director of Global Business Development, Hexagon Platform Solutions.

The conferences explored how to empower an autonomous future where there is a seamless fusion of the digital and the physical. In my view, we’re on the path towards a new revolution moving from automation to autonomy.

Throughout the four major events held in India, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia, attendees contributed and exchanged ideas and took the opportunity to hear more than 100 customer presentations by our marquee customers, which provided a wealth of knowledge. In India alone, for example, our customers presented 70 high quality technical papers across six tracks: structures-ground vehicles, structures-aero, vehicles dynamics & ADAS/autonomous mobility, mechanisms & machinery, acoustics & fluids and next-gen manufacturing. One noteworthy fact is that the trophies for the first prize winners were simulated using MSC Simufact Additive, optimised by AMendate, and 3D printed by our customer Objectify Technologies.

The conference addressed changing global trends, and how MSC and its parent company, Hexagon, is helping manufacturers to use data to address them. Experts from MSC Software and Hexagon joined manufacturers in sharing the latest thinking on:

  • The digital twin and smart connected factories
  • Electric, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and autonomous driving
  • Artificial intelligence for design derivation

All of these advances are enabled significantly by developments in the monitoring and collection of data, advanced simulation, and the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Together they are creating the knowledge that will help us accelerate the growth of manufacturing, making it smarter. These trends are enabled by core advances via the power of data, advanced simulation, and our increasing ability to mine this data.

All in all, exciting times lie ahead! We hope to work closely with customers, partners, and the industry to create a smart, sustainable, and productive future.
