For each of you reading this blog, the rate of technological change you’ve experienced in your lifetime alone is testament to his philosophy. A modern Heraclitus might observe that change only seems to get more frequent as time passes.
We don’t yet understand just how much this technological change is shaping our lives. Think of social media; we are still discovering how this ever-changing technology impacts our relationships, self-esteem, business opportunities, communities, etc. But these continual developments tell us something key about change: it is characterised by potential.
So how do we maximise this potential to best serve ourselves, our organisation, and, ultimately, the world? We shape change. By being conscious of and steering change, we can direct its potential towards our objectives, making change smart, and a process of continuous development.
